Oficial currency is the Leu (Lei). The divisions are: coins of 20, 50 and 100 lei and bills of 500, 1,000, 5,000, 10,000, 50,000 lei and 100,000 lei. The money can be changed at banks, in hotels or at the hard currency exchange offices. Many time, the hard currency exchange rate is more profitable at the exchange offices, than at the bank.
