Unilever Romania is a subsidiary of Unilever, one of the largest consumer goods businesses in the world. Unilever had been exporting to Romania for several years. In May 1995 it significantly increased its involvement trough the acquisition of Dero, the country’s leading detergent manufacturer. The transaction including strong commitments to post-acquisition expenditure on modernisation has consolidated Unilever as one of the top international investors in Romania. The factory, situated in Ploiesti, has been rebuilt and was renamed as DERO LEVER. It is now the largest detergent manufacturer in Romania providing high standards of product quality, efficiency and environmental impact.

The infrastructure created to support the expansion of DeroLever, particularly marketing, sales, distribution and administration, concentrated around the head-office in Bucharest, has provided a platform for the development of Unilever activities. The sales for both local and international brands have been substantially expanded and new brands and categories have been introduced. We are no less ambitious for the future.
